SRMS is looking for parents and students interested in participating in our Transitional Advisory Committee (TAC). Please also note that this committee will meet twice per month. If interested in participating on this committee, please to contact your elementary school principal.

Below are some FAQs about the TAC agenda. We will keep this web page updated for the community with transition information including TAC meeting agenda and meeting minutes.

Transition Advisory Committee
What is this committee?
Each Articulation Area that is transitioning sixth grade students to the middle school will form a Transition Advisory Committee. The Committee will be chaired by the middle school principal, Ms. Schulz.

What is the purpose of the committee?

The purpose of the committee is to manage the “how” of this process. They will provide year-long guidance of the transition, identify key decision points, seek input from the school’s accountability committee and articulation area staff, and engage the community with regard to these decisions. It is advised the sixth grade transition be a standing agenda item on each school’s accountability committee in order to elicit questions and suggestions from each accountability committee to bring to the Transition Advisory Committee for decision and action.

What is the committee make up?
Chaired by the principal of the middle school, the committee will include area articulation principals and those principals will select representative teachers, parents, and students from the articulation area to also serve on the committee. District partners may join the committee as needed to provide information and respond to questions.

When and here will the committee meet?
It is recommended the committee meetings be held at the middle school. The members of the committee will determine the day, time, and number of meetings that will be held.

What decisions will the committee members be making?
This committee will decide what and when to communicate to the articulation area community, plan informational events and middle school open houses for students and families, and advise the middle school staff on curricular and scheduling decisions.
